250-hp, 3.5-liter, 24-valve, SOHC VTEC® V-6 Engine

The high-output 3.5-liter, 24-valve VTEC® V-6 engine produces 250 hp and an equally impressive 247 lb-ft of torque, putting the Ridgeline performance on a par with some V-8 trucks. Yet it still has one of the highest-mileage and lowest-emissions ratings in its class[1].

5-Speed Automatic Transmission

The 5-speed automatic transmission was built with heavy-duty truck use in mind. Transmission shift points have been programmed to take full advantage of engine torque, and shift times are quicker for more positive shifts. Plus, a high-capacity automatic-transmission fluid cooler helps ensure greater durability when towing[2].

Variable Torque Management® (VTM-4®) 4-Wheel-Drive System

The VTM-4® system operates automatically. But when you need to start off in extreme low-traction conditions, such as when stopped in mud, on ice or in loose gravel, the VTM-4 Lock® feature lets you manually lock the rear differential to help get you moving. And it will stay manually locked up to 18 mph in both forward and reverse gears.

4-Wheel Independent Suspension

Unlike other trucks with live-axle suspensions, each wheel operates independently of the others and also has a lower unsprung weight. As a result, the Ridgeline operates with superior off-road handling, a composed ride and unmatched stability.

Locking Rear Differential

When the clutches are energized and engaged by the VTM-4® electronic control unit, up to 70% of the engine's power is diverted to the rear wheels so they can work with the front wheels to provide 4-wheel drive.

Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) in the Ridgeline benefits from a 4-channel design, so each wheel is controlled individually. Brake Assist helps apply maximum braking in emergency situations. And Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) varies the braking force at each wheel—helpful when hauling uneven loads.

Dual-Stage, Multiple-Threshold Front Airbags (SRS)

The vehicle is equipped with dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags (SRS). One or both of these airbags will be deployed only in the event of a sufficient frontal impact. If deployed, these airbags are capable of being inflated at different rates, depending on crash severity, seat-belt usage and other factors. Front airbags are designed to supplement the seat belts to help reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in frontal collisions.

Front Side Airbags with Passenger-Side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS)

In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the side airbag inflates to help protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body. The Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) utilizes sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect the height and seating position of the occupant. If a child or small-statured adult is leaning into the deployment path of the side airbag, sensors deactivate it.

Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH)

Three Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) child-seat mounting positions are built into the rear seats. The LATCH system utilizes both the upper child-seat tether anchors and dedicated lower-anchor points built into the body of the vehicle to help ensure correct mounting of a compatible child seat.

Side Curtain Airbags with Rollover Sensor

Designed to deploy from the headliner, the side curtain airbag inflates in a fraction of a second, and stays inflated for up to 4 seconds. This increases the level of protection for outboard passengers in the event of a rollover or significant side impact.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Standard on the Ridgeline, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) tells the driver when a tire is significantly underinflated. Air-pressure sensors inside special valve stems in each of the four tires send signals to a monitoring unit mounted in the rear of the vehicle that relays the current air-pressure status to the display. If the air pressure of any tire is significantly low, the system will automatically alert the driver via the information display[3].

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) with traction control

This sophisticated device aids the driver in retaining control if side slippage is detected. When the driver is cornering or must make a sudden maneuver, the system may engage if traction loss is detected[4].

Driver's and Front Passenger's Active Head Restraints

In a sufficient rear impact, the front active head restraints move forward and up in a fraction of a second, helping reduce the likelihood of neck injury.

Daytime Running Lights (DRL)

Visibility of the Ridgeline to other drivers is enhanced by the Ridgeline's Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Call It Rigid

The Ridgeline has an ultra-rigid unit-body that’s reinforced with an integrated closed-box frame. This tow-friendly approach gives the Ridgeline extraordinary torsional rigidity, and helps the frame fight twisting during the stress of hauling, towing or off-road driving.

Serious Towing

All models come with an integrated Class III trailer hitch. There's also a standard high-capacity radiator with dual 160-watt fans, a heavy-duty power-steering fluid cooler, a high-capacity ATF cooler, and, on the RTS and RTL, a trailer harness (RT and Sport are pre-wired for a trailer harness). Large brake rotors at all four wheels and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) help ensure quick and deliberate stops when it matters most.

Power Under the Hood

A 3.5-liter, VTEC® V-6 engine with 250 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque gives the Ridgeline optimum power and efficiency. An innovative two-stage intake manifold and a high-mounted fresh-air intake system provide power when you need it, with high-end horsepower and low-end torque even during extreme towing conditions. The fresh-air intake draws air from the top of the front grille to protect against dust and water intrusion during launches.

Handle It All

Equipped with a Steel-Reinforced Composite (SRC) cargo bed, the Ridgeline is specially designed to take your abuse. Its 5-ft bed allows for a thick stack of 4' x 8' plywood sheets to lie flat between the wheelwells and 8 heavy-duty tie-down cleats secure up to 1,100 lbs of cargo. When you need to tow, the Ridgeline cooperates. A high-output V-6 engine and 4WD system work in perfect unison to pull 5,000 lbs of just about anything you put behind it.

Brains and Brawn

This truck is every bit as smart as it is tough. Well-designed storage spaces, including the 8.5-cu ft, hidden, lockable In-Bed Trunk® keep toolboxes or other large-size gear secure. Ingenious features like a dual-action tailgate give you the flexibility to unload the bed contents in whichever way makes the most sense.

Steel-Reinforced Composite (SRC) Cargo Bed

The bed in the Ridgeline has a Steel-Reinforced Composite (SRC) material that's both lighter and stronger than steel. Plus, it's resistant to dents and gouges. Steel crossmembers underneath the bed maintain integrity to combat the stress of heavy loads.

Cargo Flexibility

The SRC cargo bed provides unmatched flexibility, capability and durability. Its 5-ft length approaches that of other full-size crew-cab truck beds, and its 49 1/2-in width between wheelwells is wider than other trucks in its class. Because the wheel arches barely intrude into the bed, a large ATV, two motorcycles or a thick stack of 4-ft sheets of plywood can easily fit. Cargo lights and 8 heavy-duty tie-down cleats make loading simple.

Dual-Action Tailgate

The unique dual-action tailgate combines the strength of a conventional truck tailgate with unparalleled flexibility and user-friendliness. It can be swung open like a door, allowing easy access to the bed contents, or it can be lowered like a conventional tailgate. The 300-lb dynamic-load capacity can safely support the weight of most large loads such as motorcycles and ATVs.
